How to Make Coroplast Signs
Signs are an effective and efficient way to showcase your school spirit, remind passersby to sell in the yard or guide guests to your home. However, the cardboard signs look tacky and the paper sign is fragile. coroplast signs(a brand of corrugated plastic signs) are the perfect replacement because it has many of the same uses as corrugated but has the advantages of durability and aesthetics.
Preparation
Determine the purpose of the corrugated plastic sign. Will it guide your friends around the backyard, or will you attract customers who might drive? The purpose will affect the design.
Determine the content of the coroplast sign. It's about how much time you're willing to invest: the more complex the content, the more time and resources you need.
Plan the size of the corflute sign content. As a rule of thumb, the height of a single detail (such as a text letter) should be about 1/200 to 1/300 of the distance of the observer from the marker. For example, if someone reads the coroplast sign 100 feet away, the letter "A" should be between 4 and 6 inches.
Determine the shape of the coroplast sign. The basic geometry is the easiest, but coroplast sheet is perfect for making dogs, children or any other shape. Consider how the size and shape of the logo content fit the overall shape.
Create
Prepare the Coroplast surface by cleaning the side to be painted or drawn. A mild soap or even a lightened vinegar is enough. Rinse the cleaner thoroughly and dry completely.
Use pencils to draw the shape of the corrugated plastic sign and content on the coroplast worksheet. This provides guidance for cutting and painting. It is important to ensure that the plastic wrinkles are properly aligned: the bracket will pass through them, so if your coroplast signs are not aligned with them, it will be unbalanced when the bracket is added.
Cut coroplast board. Place the paper on a flat surface. The utility knife may scratch the surface under the plastic, so take precautions. Either use old plywood or thick newspapers. Wear gloves and goggles.
Smear or draw your design on corrugated plastic sign. The template is suitable for lettering. If you want the sign to be weatherproof, use a waterproof coating or marking. If you want to add multiple colors or designs, let each color or design dry thoroughly before starting the next time.
Connection sign. Wire racks can be purchased online or purchased at a hardware store. These should easily slide through the folds. Although not common, the coroplast sign can also be hung. To do this, drill two holes in the sign, one at each corner, about 0.5 to 1 inch from any edge. Pass lines or strings as needed.
